Solar ultraviolet in "reasonable" doses has a rather beneficial effect on human skin and metabolic processes in the body. By producing vitamin D3, also known as the "sunshine vitamin", the UVB energy that comes from sunlight boosts immunity and aids in preventing chronic illnesses. Therefore, getting the right amount of solar ultraviolet is beneficial for our health.
A small amount of sun exposure is good for us; however, an excessive amount of UV radiation can have damaging consequences. Overexposure to the sun can age the skin prematurely and can even cause skin cancer.
It takes one bad sunburn to realize that sunscreen isn’t always enough. The FDA states that there is no such thing as "waterproof" sunscreen, as all formulas will eventually be diminished when they come into contact with water or sweat. Therefore, it is important to remember that simply applying sunscreen is not enough to ensure comprehensive protection for your skin.
That’s where sun-protective clothing, or UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor), comes in — it gives anyone spending time in the sun a much-needed barrier between their skin and harmful rays.
The Skin Cancer Foundation requires clothing to have a UPF rating of 30 or higher in order for it to be considered “sun protective.” A UPF of 30 to 49 is considered “very good” protection and a UPF of 50+ provides “excellent protection.”
Séane products are carefully crafted from the highest quality certified UPF 50+ fabrics and ECONYL® regenerated Nylon, manufactured by Carvico and Jersey Lomellina group, a company with nearly 60 years of experience in creating top-quality performance materials.
The main question is: What steps can you take to protect your skin from UV rays while still enjoying the sun?
We strive to make our products both functional and comfortable. This is why we use only skin-friendly, breathable material, giving you a feeling of softness and silkiness against your skin.
It appears that the issue has been resolved and the best solution discovered; however, be aware that no apparel can totally block all UV rays. Séane products can block up to 95% of UV rays; however, the protection of garments may be reduced when stretched, when wet, or with extended use.
No need to worry about your swimsuit when using sunscreen or creams and oils! Our fabrics are highly resistant to chlorine, salt water, and even sun cream/oil damage – so all you have to do is simply wash off the fabric and there will be no traces left.
